Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) Genomic Variants and Salivary Progesterone Levels in Female Patients with a History of Idiopathic Scoliosis: An Historical Cross-Sectional Study

چکیده
Purpose: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is a condition characterized by three-dimensional curvature of the spine. However, in addition to spinal curvature, it has also been reported that patients with can display other abnormal physiologic parameters, such as hormone imbalances, genetic variants, and micronutrient deficiencies. The present study evaluated salivary progesterone levels, well results brain-derived neu-rotrophic factor (BDNF) genomic testing, from historical cohort seeking treatment at single integrative medicine clinic. Method: A group female history adolescent was compared non-scoliosis patients. Results: Salivary lev-els were 41% higher (P < 0.05), while 71% positive for BDNF func-tional 19% 0.05). These unchanged regardless menstrual status. Conclusion: suggest potential relationship between progesterone, BDNF, among Prospective studies are needed data extrapolation. current warrants further investigation.

Effect of Lithium on Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) Level in Patients with Ischemic Stroke: A Clinical Trial
Background and Objectives: Previous studies have indicated that lithium may increase the level of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which in turn improves the recovery of patients with stroke. In this controlled trial we evaluated the effect of lithium on BDNF serum level in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods: In this randomized controlled...

OBJECTIVE In the present study, we aimed to examine the effects of repeated D-amphetamine (AMPH) exposure, a well-accepted animal model of acute mania in bipolar disorder (BD), and histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors on locomotor behavior and HDAC activity in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of rats. Moreover, we aimed to assess brain-derived neurotro...
متن کاملEvidence of associations between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) serum levels and gene polymorphisms with tinnitus
BACKGROUND Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene polymorphisms are associated with abnormalities in regulation of BDNF secretion. Studies also linked BDNF polymorphisms with changes in brainstem auditory-evoked response test results. Furthermore, BDNF levels are reduced in tinnitus, psychiatric disorders, depression, dysthymic disorder that may be associated with stress, conversion diso...
متن کاملBrain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in cardiometabolic physiology and diseases.
Important advances in our understanding of the relationships between adipose tissue derived peptides, namely adipokines, and their effects on cardiovascular functions have been achieved in recent years. Growing knowledge of adipokine biology is revealing the complexity of these proteins. Adipose tissue releases some other proteins called neurotrophins that are mainly active in central and perip...
